Apparently, the organizers of this Skateboard Contest in China changed
the rules on the go to exclude Hong Kong Skateboarders even though this was advertised as an “All China Open” skateboarding contest.
The organizers later claimed that Hong Kong was a separate region, even though Hong Kong is a part of China. But they did not make this claim until all the HK skaters traveled up to China & joined the conest!!
Whats’ funny & stupid is that they included & allowed 2 foreign skaters in the contest, perhaps because they resided ‘in’ China.

In my humble opinion, I think the organizers & the sponsors of the event just wanted to give their own riders “an edge”. If this was the case, then they should not have bothered to advertise it as an all China event, or they should have explicitly said “NO Hong Kong Skateboarders”.

This contest seems like a Big Budget skate contest, with everything from media to Security Guards. I bet lots of people made lots of $$ with this.
In the video, you will see a statement made by the organizers after the event to explain why the Hong Kong Skateboarders were excluded: loosely translated, basically they are saying that Hong Kong Skateboarders have much opportunity to travel overseas to participate in contests & train, (some HK skaters went to Woodward last year) therefore the organizers feel its fair to give other Mainland China Skateboarders the opportunity & chance to go to Woodward to train. ( the prize was for 5 qualifying skateboarders to travel to Woodward in USA to train for ONE month ) So, in other words, even if you were good enough, you could not go to Woodward if you are from Hong Kong. What a Joke.

Anyway, our boys did us proud. They ROCKED. Seems like the organizers there have A Lot to learn about & catch up with the rest of the world, e.g. Hong Kong.
To our HK boys, Keep your head up, Hong Kong Pride!
